April was Hyatt Thrive month. We chose Children’s Books on Wheels. We donated and filled Easter eggs for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Sales participated in the special needs hunt to serve food, play bingo, and read to the children. We worked in conjunction with Crane Energy and Frost Bank and donated over 200 books on April 28. CBOW will have a fashion show on May 20 at our hotel to raise additional funds.

Hilton has many ways they recognize & motivate their amazing team members. There are many awards that recognize hotel performance and there are awards that recognize individual performance. These awards, of course, are great motivation for our future hospitality leaders. Hilton has 13 brands, and the largest brand they have by far is Hampton.
There are almost 2,200 Hampton Hotels in over 20 countries around the world. One of the most prestigious awards the brand has for their future leaders of hospitality is The Spirit of Hampton Award. This award is only issued a few times each year, and when they do select team members to receive the Spirit of Hampton, only about 4 or 5 are chosen at a time. So, again, to be selected and to earn this particular award is quite the accomplishment.
The essence of the Spirit of Hampton is to find team members who consistently exceeds expectations, lives Hamptonality, and positively impacts guests, the hotel, and the community. The Spirit of Hampton award is the highest form of individual recognition that Hilton has. We are proud to employ one of these distinct award recipients, Rana Alshami. North Cypress Medical Center hosted its 10th annual "Project Pink" event on Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Attendees enjoyed Lunch from Merche Restaurant, fall fashion trends on the runway by Macy’s, education from leading cancer experts and inspiring stories of breast cancer survival.
Over the last nine years, the event has raised over $331,000 for the Komen Houston Affiliate. Project Pink is highly anticipated each year as many loyal attendees return and bring new friends with them, selling out every seat.
The support of this event will touch many women in our community and help in the fight against breast cancer. Together we are making a difference.
Landon Sands, Sales Manager and Stephanie Govia, Dual Director of Sales represented the team from Hampton Inn by Hilton Houston Northwest and the Homewood Suites by Hilton Houston Northwest Cy-Fair by donating their time before, during and after the event. Landon and Stephanie made themselves available to the staff in every capacity that was required of them. Their main task was assigned to the silent auction. They assisted with everything from the set up to the delivery of the auction items. In addition to donating their time, Landon and Stephanie put together a basket for the silent auction. The basket included a weekend stay at the Hampton Inn, a weekend at the Homewood Suites, a Mary Kay Miracle Skin Care set and a JJ Watt Pink Jersey. Their assistance was greatly appreciated and they were invited to come back the following year.
Nearly fifty of our amazing team members and their families met at Surfside Beach, TX to donate their time to Clean Up the beach and in a two hour time span the team picked up 100 pounds of trash or more. This included 250 bottle caps, 350 cigarette butts, 200 plastic pieces and many more nasty items! This great service keeps our beaches clean and marine life safe. Way to go Horizon Helps!

Willerson, President of Texas Heart Institute, including the Senate Proclamation from Sen. John Whitmire acknowledging his vast contributions to medicine. Presenting a check for $10,000 each to the labs of Dr. Doris Taylor and Dr. Will Decker was one of several highlights from an evening celebrating breakthroughs from the Texas Medical Center, past and present.

Hilton Garden Inn – The Woodlands with REVPAR of $156.59 ranks #14 and Hyatt Place – The Woodlands, in the second year of operation with a REVPAR of $143.76, ranks #19 for all Top Houston – Area Hotels in Revenue Per Available Room. Average REVPAR for hotels on the Top 25 increased to $163 from $160 in 2014, however REVPAR decreased for 16 of last year’s top 25 hotels. Information was obtained from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts office.

The Hilton Garden Inn The Woodlands Hotel's energy-saving upgrade to LED Parking Lot and Exterior Lights have earned it a $1,689 cash incentive from the Entergy Texas Commercial Solutions Program. This hotel opened 11 years ago and continues to focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, reduced water consumption, water usage and recycling for guests and staff. The high-efficiency lighting systems will save 33,431 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equal to eliminating the annual greenhouse gas emissions of 5 cars or 2,644 Gallons of Gas, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations. "We're proud to serve as an energy-efficient role model in the community," Vice President of New Horizons Hospitality, Aly Valiani said in a recent interview.

By purchasing renewable energy credits, we are committed to take responsibility for the emissions generated from our electricity use. By paying a little extra we are purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) to ensure that clean, wind energy is being generated and put back on the national power grid. By purchasing renewable energy, we are committed to: Helping reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, promoting cleaner air, and fighting global climate change. From all energy efficiency designs and elements of construction, Hyatt Place saved 389 Metric Tons of Carbon Dioxide which is equivalent to eliminating gas emissions of 81 cars.

Four of the surviving eight members of 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Division, also known as the "Forgotten Battalion," were honored this past Saturday for their service during WWII.
A memorial service was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in The Woodlands, where moments of silence were taken to remember battalion members who have since passed, as well as troops that have lost their lives in more recent battles overseas.

The Woodlands Hyatt Place Hotel's energy-saving upgrades have earned it a $26,621 cash incentive from the Entergy Texas Commercial Solutions Program. This hotel is Hyatt's second LEED Silver property in Texas with a design focused on energy efficiency, sustainability, reduced water consumption, water usage and recycling for guests and staff. The high-efficiency lighting and cooling systems will save 551,677 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equal to eliminating the carbon dioxide emissions from 43,636 gallons of gasoline, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency calculations. "We're proud to serve as an energy-efficient role model in the community," Valiani said.
Earlier in the year, Hyatt Hotels Corp. and New Horizons Hospitality announced the opening of Hyatt Place in The Woodlands at 1909 Research Forest Drive - with 146 rooms and more than 6,100 square feet of meeting and function space and is expected to further encourage more visits to The Woodlands and to have a positive impact on the local economy, according to Gordy Bunch, chairman of The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Having an option for visitors to stay overnight encourages more people to use The Woodlands for a 'staycation' or a family vacation and stay for longer periods of time," Bunch said.
Nearing completion at the southeast corner of Research forest Drive and Grogan's Mill Road is the Hyatt Place Hotel, a 4.3-acre hotel development that will feature 150 rooms and more than 6,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space. "It's in a prime location, right there on Research Forest and Grogan's Mill and easy access to I-45, not even a mile to Town Center. We're located near everything."
Significant increases in hotel occupancy tax revenue and planned construction of several new hotels in The Woodlands and Shenandoah are signaling a boom in the local hotel industry. Construction of the Hyatt Place Hotel at Research Forest Drive and Grogan's mill should bring 150 rooms and 6,000 square feet of meeting space. Nick Wolda, President of The Woodlands CVB, added "Those new hotel rooms will be a welcome addition."
The Houston area's third Hyatt Place hotel will open amid increasing demands for corporate hotel space. Fred Domenick, chair of The Woodlands board of directors for the Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Houston said as businesses continue to move in and around the township, particularly the ExxonMobil campus, they'll need more rooms for travelling employees and conference space for meetings and other business functions. Houston is one of the hottest markets in the country, and The Woodlands is hot on top of that." The Hyatt Place will alleviate demand and fulfill undeserved demand in the market.

Hyatt Place's proximity is good along the Research corridor. It's centralized. We are looking forward to having additional rooms since there is such a demand."
A new Hilton Garden Inn has opened at U.S. Highway 290 and Beltway 8 in Houston. The full-service property has 172 deluxe guest rooms, 6500 square feet of conference center space meeting and event space which is divisible into 9 meeting and event spaces including the America Plaza Ballroom with theater seating for 526. The conference center also houses an HD videoconferencing room.
